The Coleus and Heliotrope seeds are germinating and some seedlings are popping up. Unfortunately, I read “Do Not Cover” on the Coleus package as if it meant that I shouldn’t put a lit over the tray to increase humidity, when it actually meant that I shouldn’t put dirt over them. Since I planted the seeds in the soil, I’m not expecting too many to germinate. Oops!

Many of the herbs have germinated and are becoming strong little seedlings. This is a Lemon Basil seedling. Also growing are the Lime Basil, Sweet Genovese Basil, Coriander, Parsley and Rosemary!

Almost every Kale seed I planted has germinated. There is at least one in every section of the tray as well. I’m going to have to give some away! Wouldn’t want to waste a perfectly good plant, but I sure won’t be using it all.

The sunflowers are coming along nicely despite the recently chilly weather. I have been moving them into a covered area to keep them a little warmer than if they were on the uncovered back deck. The current count for germinated seeds is 49/80.

Since it’s still relatively early in the season, I figured I would try growing the Butternut Squash, Green and Yellow Zucchini, and Cucumbers from seed.As well as planting these, I have also planted some Chrysanthemum seeds that will germinate inside and hopefully be ready to flower come autumn!

Also planted, but to come inside for germination, are Jade Sunflower seeds. I still need to figure out where these will go in the garden…

I added Chinese Toy Choi Cabbage to the salad bar. There also Red Leaf Lettuce, Mixed Green Lettuce and Bright Lights Swiss Chard in the planter.

Another potentially cold damaged plant from the weather  may be this Snow White Euphorbia. All of the leaves and flowers are drooping on it, but so far it isn’t totally gone… it might also come back! Here’s hoping.

Another plant growing from last year is this Sunflower! The only seed in the main vegetable garden that was able to grow it seems, unless there are some more that just haven’t germinated yet.

Each year, this Milkweed tries and tries to come back throughout the season, but I can never take the whole plant out. I’m considering leaving it this year for the butterflies, but will have to do a little more research on what creatures may be brought into the garden from them, if any. Until then, I don’t particularly want to pluck it just in case.
